3. Interviewing

You've been invited to interview. Now what?
Pangea handles the logistics so you can focus on the conversation. Clients book time directly on your calendar through the platform, and the call happens over Pangea's built-in video (not Zoom or Google Meet). No links to dig up, no calendar tetris.

Before the call

Review the role and the client. Re-read the job description and check the client's profile on Pangea. Knowing the company stage, industry, and what they've already built signals seriousness.
Test your setup early. Pangea video runs in your browser. Hop on a few minutes early to confirm your camera, mic, and connection are working.
Have your portfolio or relevant work pulled up. If the role is creative or technical, be ready to walk through specific projects. Designers especially should have a portfolio open in a tab.
Prepare two or three questions. Thoughtful questions signal you're evaluating fit too, not just hoping to get picked.

What to ask

Fractional engagements live or die on expectations. Get clarity early:
Time commitment: How many hours per week are they expecting? Is that flexible? Are there crunch periods?
Timeline for hiring: When are they looking to start? When can you expect a decision?
Scope and priorities: What does success look like in the first 30, 60, 90 days? Who will you be working with day-to-day?
Decision-making and access: Will you have direct access to the founder or executive team, or will you be working through a manager?
Tools and workflow: What tools does the team use? Async or synchronous? Slack, Notion, Linear, etc.?

What not to discuss

Do not discuss your hourly rate with the client – ever. This is the single most common mistake we see, and it can disqualify you from the role. If the client brings up rate, politely redirect: "Rates are handled through Pangea, happy to loop them in if you'd like to discuss." Then message the Pangea team.
This protects you (we negotiate on your behalf) and protects the platform's pricing model.

After the interview

Send a brief follow-up through the platform. Two or three sentences is plenty: thank them, reiterate one thing you're excited about, and confirm next steps.
